Snohomish Motorcycle Crash Injures Man Critically

A man is in critical condition at a Seattle hospital following a motorcycle accident in Snohomish, Sunday night..

Snohomish Police Chief John Turner said that the man, who is in his mid 20s, was driving around 7:30 p.m. on Bickford Avenue north of Weaver Road when for some reason the motorcycle left the road.

The biker was taken to Harborview Medical Center with head injuries and remained in intensive care this morning, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Snohomish police and the Washington State Patrol are investigating.

Seattle Pedestrian Accident Leaves 1 in Critical Condition

Late Friday, a motorist struck a man crossing the street near Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. The pedestrian was left with life-threatening injuries.

At around 11:40 pm, the Seattle auto accident happened on Broadway Avenue near East Pike Street. Seattle police reported that the driver, a 25-year-old man, was in the center lane heading north on Broadway approaching Pike when he hit a 24-year-old man crossing the street.

According to Seattlepi.com, the impact sent the pedestrian onto the hood of the Ford Mustang, causing the victim to strike his head on the windshield before flying over the top of the vehicle and landing in the road.

When Seattle fire medics responded, they found the victim suffering from serious head injuries and a broken leg. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

Lynnwood Woman Killed in Fatal DUI Crash

Oregon State Police reported that a woman from Lynnwood, along with three Oregon men were killed in a fatal DUI accident on Sunday when their car was slammed into from behind by a pickup on Interstate 84 near Pendleton, Or.

Police say that a 46-year-old Carlton, Oregon man who was driving the pickup was booked into the Umatilla County Jail on investigation of manslaughter and drunk driving.

Lt. Gregg Hastings of the Oregon State Police said that the man "has previous convictions for driving while under the influence".

Hastings said that accident investigators worked through the night and into mid- afternoon because of what he called "the serious nature of the accident."

"Four counts of manslaughter requires an in-depth and detailed investigation," Hastings said.

Driver on Cell Phone Triggers Morning Crash

A head-on collision on I-5 Wednesday that snarled the morning commute is being blamed on a man trying to talk on his cell phone.

Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said that just before 8 a.m. the crash happened when a 29 year old Lynnwood man was headed north on I-5 just north of the King County line. The man tried to put his phone in speaker mode, lost control of his car, jumped the median and collided with a car driving southbound and moving at slow speeds in heavy traffic.

"It took a toll on our commute," Leary said.

According to www.HeraldNet.com, the collision left three people injured. As a precaution, they were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with non-life threatening injuries.

Tacoma Hit and Run Kills Local Man

Early Sunday morning, a man was killed in a hit and run in Tacoma along Pacific Avenue. Police are still searching for the vehicle that hit him.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Ronald McKellar, 53, of Tacoma.

According to Tacoma police, McKellar was struck somewhere between South 64th Street and South 72nd Street about 12:45 a.m. The vehicle that hit him was heading northbound on Pacific Avenue. McKeller died at the scene after being dragged or carried several blocks by the impact, police said.

Thurston County Motorcycle Accident Leaves Man Injured

In Thurston County Saturday, a 71-year-old man was hurt when his motorcycle struck a truck that had turned in front of him.

Washington State Patrol troopers said that a 45-year-old man from Olympia was driving a pickup truck north on Littlerock Road around 4 p.m. The motorcycle driver was traveling south. The truck driver then turned onto 110th Avenue in front of the motorcycle and the vehicles collided. A 70-year-old woman from Olympia, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, was not injured.

According to news reports, the man was taken to a hospital in the area. An accident report from the State Patrol did not give information about his specific motorcycle accident injuries. The truck driver was not hurt.
