A car involved in a pedestrian hit and run in Seattle is being sought by Seattle police. The car struck a 6 year old girl at the intersection of South Henderson Street and Seward Park Ave South, on Thursday afternoon.

According to witnesses, the vehicle was driving south on Seward Park Avenue South when it "veered" into the oncoming lanes and hit a girl walking in a crosswalk. Seattle policewoman Renee Witt said that the impact launched the girl approximately 20 feet in the air. It also knocked out several of the girl's teeth and left her with nonfatal injuries. The car then left the scene.

According to police spokesman Mark Jamieson, the car involved in the Seattle car crash could be a Lincoln. Police don't have the fleeing vehicle's license plate, but witnesses said the two men in the car appeared to be in their late teens or early 20s, Jamieson said.

A fatal SUV accident on U.S. 2 claimed the life of a Monroe man Friday night at E. Fern Bluff Road. This is a dangerous road that residents have asked the state to improve.

Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said the 32 year old man was driving westbound on the highway when his car crossed the centerline and crashed into an SUV and then into a pickup in the highway's eastbound lane.

The 60 year old driver of the pickup suffered neck injuries and was transported to Valley General Hospital in Monroe, Leary said. The three people in the SUV were not injured.

"It could've been a lot worse," he said.

The Monroe man was died at the scene. State accident data shows that his death marked the 50th death since 1999 in crashes along U.S. 2 between Snohomish and Stevens Pass. Among all the fatal auto accidents in Washington along this stretch, 18 occurred in crossover collisions.

The family of the student murdered in Tacoma, Washington while attending Foss High School has filed a lawsuit against Tacoma School District. The family of the student is seeking $35 million.

According to the Seattletimes.com, the wrongful death lawsuit, filed Thursday, states that the family says the district should have known that the teen accused of the shooting in January of last year was dangerous.

The shooter had attended four high schools previously, and had a history of psychiatric hospitalizations and suffered from hallucinations. He has also spent time in Western State Hospital. He has been charged with murder in this case.

There is a hearing Aug. 29 which may determine whether he's competent to stand trial.

A woman, apparently drunk, was driving the wrong way in her SUV on I-5 and caused a five-car collision in the southbound lanes of I-5 near Lynnwood. The Lynnwood SUV accident happened late Friday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The driver, a 44-year-old woman from Monroe, was the only one injured in the crash, said trooper Keith. She was taken to Providence Medical Center in Everett with possible neck injuries. She was also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, he said.

“The accident was reported at 10:33 p.m. beneath the I-405 bridge. The woman's white sport utility vehicle was reported headed northbound in the southbound lanes from 196th Street SW”, Leary said.

"She hit two different cars, then hit another car that ran into another. It's very lucky in a wrong way collision. This could have been much worse," he said.

A Snohomish man, 19, died in a Silvana motorcycle crash on a dirt-bike track.

According to Rebecca Hover, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office,
the accident occurred on the track in the 22000 block of Sather Road in the Silvana area on Tuesday.

Hover stated that the teen was riding motorbikes with three other young men on the private, rural property when he crashed. He died at the scene. Because the three other riders were on a different part of the track, they didn’t witness the crash.

It is not known by investigators who owns the property where the teens were riding or the circumstances surrounding the crash, said Hover. The teenager was wearing a helmet and following common Washington motorcycle safety practices.

In less than a month, 3 motorcyclists were killed in traffic accidents on Snohomish County highways. The third accident happened Tuesday.

A 26-year-old man from Snohomish died at the scene of the collision with a pickup truck on Highway 92 at the intersection of 127th Drive NE.

According to Washington State troopers, the 62-year-old Snohomish man who drove the pickup and his passenger were not injured. Trooper Keith Leary said the pickup driver was making an improper left turn onto Highway 92 when the collision occurred.

Leary said he believes the sunny summer weather and high gas prices are leading more people to drive motorcycles and that both motorcycle riders and car drivers need to be extra careful.

"If somebody does do something wrong, they have to be able to react to that," Leary said. "Our main message is we have to stay focused on our driving 100 percent of the time."

An Amtrak train killed a teen in Centralia on Saturday afternoon, police said. The 15-year-old boy was on his bike when he was hit. According to police, a friend of the boy was following close behind, but was uninjured.

The train/bike collision happened in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue. There were witnesses to the accident who say that the teens crossed the tracks at a designated crossing.

"I heard a big, like, crash against metal and then I heard like just like the bike come smashing down," said one witness.

Another witness said that students at an elementary school nearby cross the tracks at that location every day.

No one aboard the train was hurt, say Amtrak officials.

On Friday, a log truck broke apart and spilled its load east of Marysville. Six people were taken to the hospital.

Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said that the Marysville truck accident occurred around 2 p.m. on Getchell Road near the intersection with 99th Avenue NE. He also said that the truck's brakes malfunctioned and appeared to have locked up and the back axle of the truck's trailer broke away, sending logs into the road.

According to Leary, the commercial truck caused an SUV to roll over into a ditch when the SUV apparently tried to avoid the logs. Getchell Fire Chief Travis Hots said that all six people in the SUV were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Snohomish County sheriff's deputies and the troopers with the commercial vehicles unit of the State Patrol were investigating.

This was the second log truck accident in the past 2 days in east Snohomish County. On Thursday a truck spilled a load of logs on Highway 530, though no one was injured in that crash.

A 37 year old Arlington woman died on Saturday morning, after her motorcycle collided with a van near Mount Vernon on Highway 536.

The woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the accident and later died. This is according to a State Patrol memo.

The motorcyclist was traveling west when she swerved into the eastbound lane of the Highway near Bradshaw Road. The motorcycle and van collided west of Mount Vernon, according to the memo.

The woman was ejected from her motorcycle. The driver of the van, a 45-year-old woman from Anacortes, suffered minor injuries and was not hospitalized.

A family was awarded $100 million in a wrongful death suit -- the largest settlement known for a wrongful death case in Michigan. The settlement stemmed from the 2005 murder of 20-year-old girl in Troy, Michigan.

A three vehicle crash near Snohomish Tuesday morning occurred. Following the crash involving a PUD line truck, a woman was airlifted to a Seattle hospital after the accident.

Snohomish County Fire District 4 Battalion Chief John Hinchcliff said that the accident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m., near the intersection of Dubuque Road and Creswell Road.

Hinchcliff said that the injured woman was in a small passenger car. As a result of the accident, she was flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Her condition was not immediately available.

The life of a man was claimed in a head-on crash on Highway 12 about five miles south of Porter, Washington, and a woman has been arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide related to the case.

The woman was identified by police as a 32-year-old from Olympia. A fifty-five-year-old man from Oakville died at the scene.

According to the State Patrol, after striking the guard rails on each side of the road, the woman’s SUV hit the man’s car head-on. The vehicles were going in opposite directions.

The woman apparently suffered bruises and was taken by ambulance to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. There she was treated and released. She was then booked into jail. The woman was wearing a seatbelt, but the man who died was not, according to the State Patrol.
