Early Sunday morning, a man was killed in a hit and run in Tacoma along Pacific Avenue. Police are still searching for the vehicle that hit him.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Ronald McKellar, 53, of Tacoma.

According to Tacoma police, McKellar was struck somewhere between South 64th Street and South 72nd Street about 12:45 a.m. The vehicle that hit him was heading northbound on Pacific Avenue. McKeller died at the scene after being dragged or carried several blocks by the impact, police said.
“Nobody we talked to actually saw the accident, but they heard what we believe was the accident,” police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.
There were two vehicle descriptions given to officers but one turned out to be another witness. The other car has not been tied to a suspect.
“Initially, there was no suspect vehicle description,” Fulghum said. “Now the follow-up begins.”
