One of the two occupants in the vehicle, a male passenger, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries. The man’s arm appeared to be severely fractured, said State Trooper Neil Weaver.

The woman who was driving the car sustained minor injuries and was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital after complaining of neck pain.

According to witnesses, the SUV was driving in the left lane just south of Exit 76 when a four-door passenger car attempted to merge into its lane. The SUV swerved to avoid a collision with the car, but ran into the cement guardrail.

One witness said, “She went really high.” She also said the vehicle went about six feet in the air “and then tumbled at least two times.”

The investigation is ongoing.
