Audi’s Latest Recall Concerns Fire-Related Risks

Every now and then we hear about accidents caused by vehicles showing equipment issues. And every now and they we fear that not enough car owners are being alerted about open recalls.

For that reason, we often talk about open recalls that impact a great number of Washingtonians and Americans in general.

According to a series of news reports, Audi has launched a recall campaign impacting over 340,000 vehicles nationwide. These units could end putting drivers and occupants in risk of being in a car fire.

The reports indicate that the impacted vehicles are the 4-cylinder versions of the 2013 through 2017 A5 and Q5, 2012 through 2015 A6 and 2013 through 2016 A4 and A4 Allroad models.

The vehicles impacted by the recall may come with faulty electric coolant pumps that could overheat or short-circuit. In either case, it could come in contact with moisture or road debris and a fire could start. Depending on the severity of the fire, the car could be engulfed by flames.

Audi has announced that dealers will have all impacted vehicles repaired by replacing faulty equipment with redesigned coolant pumps. The new items will come with “pressure compensation element” that will prevent issues in the future.

Impacted vehicle owners will be contacted in mid-June so that all vehicles are promptly repaired. But if you own one of the recalled cars and you would like to learn more about the potential risks associated with this recall, follow this link.
