According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s office, the Dodge Durango SUV he was riding in veered off the road in the 44000 block of Fir Road and struck a tree.

The boy, who died at the scene, was in the back seat of the SUV. A 3-year-old girl was also in the back seat. It was initially reported that she suffered minor injuries and was taken to an Everett Hospital. Later, she was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Deputies believe the girl was in a child seat. It’s not immediately known if the boy was in a child seat or wearing a seatbelt.

The SUV was driven by a 27-year-old man who suffered face and back injuries in the crash. He was taken to Harborview.
