Kent Police spokesman Paul Peterson said that the injured man remained in critical condition with undisclosed injuries, as of noon Tuesday, at Harborview.

Police arrested one of the drivers involved in the King County auto accident, a 24-year-old man, for investigation of vehicular assault. Peterson said that there is an indication that the 24-year-old man had been drinking alcohol.

Police plan to forward the investigation to the King County Prosecutor’s Office later this week.

The driver of one of the involved vehicles fled the scene. He was ultimately caught by police in the back yard of a nearby mobile home after a resident called 911 to report a man in his yard. He was uninjured, and was in custody Tuesday at the Kent city jail.

One of the vehicles caught fire as a result of the crash but was extinguished by firefighters.

Pacific Highway was closed in the northbound direction for several hours while police conducted their investigation.
