Geoff Patrick, Sound Transit spokesman, said the woman, who was on foot, was running in a crosswalk at the intersection when she ran into the side of the moving northbound train. The train had a green light at the intersection. The injured woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment due to the Seattle pedestrian accident.

According to the Seattle Times report, Sound Transit’s Link light rail trains are in testing in preparation for the start of public service in July.

In another railroad accident in Seattle last week, a light rail train and a car collided shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday at Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Dawson Street. Sound Transit officials stated that it was the first collision between a light rail train and a car since light rail testing started. Both the vehicle and the train were headed north. The car made a left turn into the path of the moving train at the intersection. Sount Transit officials said that the intersection is controlled by a signal.

The woman who was driving the car complained of some pain and was taken to Harborview Medical center to be examined. A passenger in the car was not injured. According to Patrick, there were no passengers on the train, and the train operator was not injured.
